The bad news stories come to light quickly and it is important to also acknowledge the good stories. 

At Mayfield Aged Care, Mum and Dad are treated with love and respect and all efforts are made to maintain their dignity at all times. 

It is a hard and often heartbreaking job and I applaud all the wonderful people here caring for an amazing group of parents, grandparents and great-grandparents who are now at a stage in their life when they need a hand. 

They have our gratitude and immense respect.

All the staff are happy to push me around in my wheelchair, I am very grateful.

It is nice to know if I have any problems I can ask the staff for their opinion.

Having activities like Housie, bus rides, pre-school visits, piano players and tai-chi demonstrations are very relaxing.

I am pleased there is a church service (any denomination) every so often.

I am happy my medication is given to me at the right time, as I would not remember to take it.

I am glad the podiatrist comes because I could not cut my toenails.

Having help to get in and out of bed, and help with dressing is very important to me.

To be honest, I was not keen on leaving my home acreage. But having lost my dear wife to cancer, it became necessary for me to find a suitable aged care unit to take care of me because of my age and health conditions. 

After looking at several other aged care units, my daughter chose Mayfield Aged Care as being the best.

My state of mind on entering care was very distressed. But I have since found it to be a wonderful place, with comfortable rooms and facilities. I was even able to fit some of my home furnishings into my room that made me feel more comfortable. Picture rails were installed for me to hang my previous photographs and pictures.

It is truly my home now. The service is great – first class in fact!. The staff are splendid, helpful as well as being kind and considerate at all times. All residents are regularly visited by the unit doctor.

The dining room provides excellent meals of a high quality and to everyone’s taste. Assistance is readily provided with courtesy and a smile to those residents in need. Disabled residents are hand fed.

Entertainment is of the highest quality. There are regular bus outings to the seaside and along the coast. Every day there is something of interest on a weekly itinerary posted in all rooms.

At night the nursing staff are vigilant in their care of all residents.

All in all, Mayfield Aged Care is a terrific place.
